Naples is the capital of Campania region. Situated in the shadow if Mount Vesuvius, it is one of the most densely populated cities in Europe. The Museo Archeologico National holds the treasures from the nearby roman ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum. The Duomo contains the body of San Gennaro, the patron saint of Naples. In the Church there are three vials of his congealed blood, which liquefy three times a year. It is said that if they fail to liquefy then the city would befall some disaster. The Castel Nouvo, located next to the fashionable district, with its early Renaissance triumphal arch over looks the Ferry port.

Naples ferry port. From this port you are able to catch passenger hydrofoils and auto ferries to the Islands of Capri, Ischia, Sicily and Sardinia.

Pompeii is a city that cannot be adequately described here. Buried in 79 AD by Mount Vesuvius Pompeii was frozen in time. There are many good guides books, which are dedicated to this historical city.

Amalfi Coast; Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi offers a place of rare and spectacular beauty, with soft beaches interspaced with coastal summits with breathtaking views. There are many hiking paths in the region connecting the beaches and cliff side towns together, when you tire of lying on the beach and swimming in the soft surf.

Paestum was a city founded in the 6th century BC by the Greek's. It is now an archaeological sight of some of the best preserved monuments of the ancient Greece world.

Capri still retains its beautiful appeal, which drew the Roman Emperors here in 1 AD. The island is famous for its grottoes, but is also a good place for walking. The Grotta Azzurra, or the Blue Grotto, is a cave bathed in blue iridescent light, which can be only be reached by boat.

Ischia with its beach resorts, thermal springs, therapeutic sands it is less touristy as Capri but in no way less beautiful and is known for its peace, tranquility and relaxing atmosphere.
